This past weekend, the City of Brooks held their 48th Annual Blast To Brooks celebration. Brooks had many activities planned and the crowds were there to participate. The day started with the opening prayer service and a bake sale at St. Joseph’s Church in the basement. There was also a Plate Lunch at St. Joseph’s Church starting at 11 a.m. They also had their raffle for 100 prizes.
Across from Carol’s Cozy Bar and Grill there were a number of vendors set up with lots of neat items for sale and some good food also from the Uff Da Taco gang, a favorite every year.
Not sure if all the young ladies were Determan’s, but there was a stand selling Brooks Princess Lemonade and Muffins. There were quite the sales team.
There were a few other vendors, selling lots a great bling items, warm & cozy blankets and other times (TLE - Virginia Edberg from Warroad), a gal with canned goods and a rummage sale. The newest addtion was the North Star Credit Union table where you could sign up for a drawing and learn about all the great features they had to offer.
In the afternoon the Grand Parade had 42 entries from around the area.
Games for children were played on Main Street. The annual Ping Pong Drop was held The ball drop is one where everyone wins – with special ping pong balls for larger prizes. Bingo was played at the Hall and a Magic show was held there also.
The car show was fun to walk through with a great variety of cars and trucks. Wild Wes does a great job of keeping the entertainment going at the Car show and that evening he also was the DJ for the evening festivities.
