RLCC Broadcasting

Red Lake County Central Broadcasting is a program funded by Garden Valley Telephone Company.  We broadcast Girls Basketball, Boys basketball, Volleyball, and Wrestling. The games are aired on channel 35 on Garden Valley Cable.  The program is hooked up to both Oklee and Plummer schools.
The whole thing is done by both sides of the camera.  The people behind get the titles for the games, get the starters up for line ups, check if the camera is running right and make sure the sound is good on their side.  The front has to make sure the sound is working on their side and if the microphones work before the game.
Those on the camera make sure that the connection on the camera works to and from the sound room before the game. They also will get the banners up that appear on the screen.  While this is happening, the people who do the play by play are setting up the soundboard that is on their side of the camera. The people on the floor will test the sound on the mics, and if something comes up they try to find out the problem.
During the game the camera is controlled in the sound room by whoever is running it that night. That person uses a control that moves the camera back and forth and zooms it in and out.
Play by Play is down by the court using microphones that are hooked up to a soundboard.  That sound board has an auxiliary cord which hooks up to the camera.  The soundboard also has a switch that turns on the power if needed.  There are other bells and whistles that deal with the sound and how loud it can be brought in.
RLCC students who are involved in broadcasting games are Phillip Sorenson: Play by Play; Jed Duden: Play by Play/Camera; Remi Rathsack: Camera; Daniel Guillemette: Camera; and Steven Sogla: Camera along with Mrs. Bobbi Aakhus: Supervisor.
