Two board members honored

Commissioners Dean Newland, John Nelson and Neal Illies congratulated Dan Stenseng and Arlen Syverson on their retirement from the Clearwater County Board. Both Dan and Arlen received an engraved keychain for their service. The December meeting was the last one that they would be attending.
Dan Stenseng will be retiring from 43 years of service to the County at the end of this year.  “He did a good job and is very dedicated to the County,” fellow Commissioner Neal Illies said. He has served in that capacity for the past six years, being elected in November of 2010. He was Board Chairman during the last year. Prior to that, he was the County Auditor, and County Treasurer.
Arlen Syverson is looking forward to retirement from his term as a Clearwater County Commissioner. “Everyone should serve in this position (as Commissioner) at least once,” he says.
“I’ve been around the courthouse a long time,” Arlen Syverson says, as he finishes his term as a County Commissioner at the end of the year. “I retired before in 2008 from custodian and maintenance for the courthouse and jail, for a total of 23 years working for the County. But after a while I needed something more to do.”
Thus, he decided to run for Clearwater County Commissioner and was elected in November of 2014, serving his term from 2015-2018.
