Local youth compete on NBA court

It was a fun experience for some Grygla/Goodridge/Gatzke boys last weekend as the young athletes got to play basketball on an official NBA court! The Chargers 7th grade boys basketball team, coached by David Jones and Joe Rubischko, played in a youth basketball tournament at Target Center on Saturday, November 24th. The tournament was lined up by David Jones, who was contacted by the Thief River Falls coach, who asked if GG and RLCC would like to join them in Minneapolis. The Chargers played the Prowlers with the game ending in a 24-24 tie; the Prowlers scored a 3-pointer with just seconds left on the clock! They were unable to go into overtime due to the tight game schedule that day.
As part of the team tournament package, each player received tickets to the Minnesota Timberwolves vs. Chicago Bulls game that night at Target Center! The Wolves won on the home court 111-96. The day was complete with some of the boys appearing on the Jumbotron and getting a few autographs from the NBA players.
The Chargers will play the Prowlers again on December 20th at Northland Community & Technical College in TRF.
