Festival of Tables in Red Lake County Successful!

The 3rd annual Red Lake County Festival of Tables was held in Brooks at the Community Hall on Saturday, October 27th.  This event raises money for the American Cancer Society and once again Red Lake County can be proud of the support for ACS as a total of $3,343.00 was tallied in this fundraiser!  In 2 hours on a Saturday afternoon, $1,948.00 was raised at the “lucky buck” silent auction, and $1,395.00 was generated in donations from guests for the meal. 

The success of the Festival of Tables is attributed to the 11 women who voluntarily host tables and prepare food for the meal.  There is much excitement when the guests arrive to see the variety of themes that each table is decorated with.  In addition, individuals and area businesses donated items for the silent auction which always generates lots of anticipation to see who will win the great prizes that are donated!  After welcoming the guests and sharing a few cancer facts, the women enjoyed the meal of soup, bread and dessert prepared to coordinate with each table theme.  Sydney Melby of Oklee shared her musical gift, and played her guitar and treated the guests to a selection of songs.  Door prizes were awarded to 2 lucky ladies who are cancer survivors, and the winners of the "lucky buck" auction were announced.
