Gonvick Pumpkin Day to celebrate 25th year

The date is coming closer for the pumpkin day in Gonvick. Saturday, September 29 will be several things going on.  It will be the 25th year that they have held the event.
The Sunday School at Samhold Lutheran Church will be serving a breakfast from 8:00 to 10:00 am.
The 13th annual car show will be held on Main Street. Registration starts at 9:00 a.m. with cut-off at noon. Pre-register with Stacy at the Gonvick City’s Clerk’s Office at 170 Main Street or call 218-487-5243 or register that day. No charge for the event and the top 5 based upon popular vote by participants wins $100 each.
Sundown with DJ  “Wild Wes” will be playing 50’s and 60’s music during the event.
Games for children and prizes will be drawn on the south side of the Gonvick Community Center. Bed races will be held. Sign  up with the City Clerk 218-487-5243 or Devin Aakre. Five teams are already to go. They still need more. There will be prize money awarded. $500 for the first place team. More teams are needed.
The pumpkin weigh-off will start at 3:30 in the afternoon. 
The Gonvick Jubilee Committee which sponsors the event will have a stand to sell pumpkin goodies.
Vendors are welcome to set-up on First Ave between Elm and Main Street, near the Gonvick Community Center. Bring your own table and no charge.
There will also be a pumpkin candy drop.
The Local 49 Promotional Trailer is scheduled to be part of the day for people to see what they do. Stop by and operate an excavator or bulldozer simulator.
To end the day stop by The Trap in the tent and enjoy the “Acoust Hicks” playing. Acoust Hicks was founded in 2012, and is a acoustic guitar-based rock and roll group. The group consists of Shane Fjerstad on lead vocals and guitar, Casey Hanevold on lead guitar, Chris Carter on percussion and Sonny Johnson on bass.
