Cadet World Series Brings Summer Recreation to Exciting Finish!

The Cadet League World Series was held on Wednesday, July 25th. Nine teams (Bagley, Clearbrook-Gonvick, Fertile-Beltrami Red, Fertile-Beltrami White, Fosston Maroon, Fosston White, Red Lake County Central, Red Lake Falls, Win-E-Mac) came to Kloster Park in Clearbrook to play for the 2018 Cadet League World Series Championship.

Regular season Division Champions and Runner ups were recognized and received awards. The Southeast Champion was Fosston Maroon and the Runner-up was Fosston White. Fertile-Beltrami Red was the Northwest Champion and Win-E-Mac took Runner-up honors.

The play-in game saw FB White defeat Bagley 13-3. In the quarter finals there were a couple of upsets with the biggest one being 4th seed RLCC defeating 1st seed FB Red 5-3. Three seed CG also upset two seed WEM 25-1. The other quarter-final games had Fosston Maroon defeating FB White 12-2 and Fosston White shut out RLF 4-0.

In the Consolation round, FB Red defeated Bagley 11-4 and followed that with a tight 3-2 loss to RLF. WEM defeated FB White 5-3. RLF then defeated WEM to take the Consolation title.

The semi-finals had Fosston Maroon defeating CG 19-1 and Fosston White won over RLCC 10-0. CG captured the third place medals defeating RLCC 11-1.

In the all Fosston final, the Maroon and White teams again battled each other for the title. The game was tight all the way, going into the bottom of the 5th inning in a 3-3 tie. Fosston Maroon managed to get one run across for a 4-3 win and the 2018 Cadet League World Series title!
