Military Rites will be accorded by the Melvin Johnson American Legion Post #256 of Clearbrook, Minnesota. Interment will be at a later date at Clearwater Cemetery in Clearbrook, MN. He was born on September 1, 1946 in Bagley, Minnesota, the son of Arnold Althoff and Margaret née Blessum. He was drafted into the Army during the Vietnam War and served from 1965-1967. After his service, he came back to Minnesota. At a gathering held by some mutual friends, he met the love of his life, Linda Johnson. They were wed on May 17, 1969 at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Clearbrook, MN. They moved to Spring Lake Park, MN in 1970 and settled down to start a family. Together they had two wonderful boys and their house became a home. Roger started working as a carpenter shortly after the move to Spring Lake Park. He fell in love with the job and was a dedicated craftsman.

Roger was a life member of the VFW in Fridley, MN and a senior member of the “Althoff Gang” Hunting Group. He was an avid outdoorsman, enjoying anything to do with nature, whether it was fishing, hunting, gardening, or coming to “The Shack” up North. Roger loved his family passionately and will be tremendously missed.

He is survived by his wife, Linda Althoff; his sons, Chad (Tresa) Althoff and Jason (Anne) Althoff; his 6 grandchildren, Mason, Rachel, Isaac, Evan, Henry, and Isabella; his siblings, Stanley (Linda) Althoff, Mary Amundson, Rose (Ward) Erickson, Curt (Liisa) Amundson, Beth (Greg) Erickson, and Brett (Audrey) Amundson; and many nieces, nephews, and other relatives.
