Red Lake County Central Seniors Awarded Scholarships

During Red Lake County Central High School Awards Day on Wednesday, May 9th, seniors were recognized along with their future plans. Local scholarships were also given out totaling $22,250. The following scholarships were made possible by the generosity of many local organizations, businesses, and individuals.
Six $200 Red Lake County Central Community Service Scholarships were given to Jayden Fore, Hannah Kolstoe, Sydney Melby, Katie Olson, Seth Paradis, and Matthew Vettleson. These scholar ships were funded through donations from Oklee Quilting, Red Lake County Co-op, Oklee Lumber, D&R Grocery, and ISD #2906. Principal Randy Peterson presented these scholarships.
Plummer Senior Citizen $200 Scholarship was given to Hannah Kolstoe.
Two- $1,000 Tim and Donna Swenson Scholarships were presented to Hannah Kolstoe and Sydney Melby.
Orlo and Millie Melby Scholarships of $1,000 were presented to Jayden Fore, Erin Jones, Hannah Kolstoe, Sydney Melby, Katie Olson, Jade Person, and Matthew Vettleson and one alumni Ashley Longtin.
Steve Rosten presented the Plummer Snowmobile Club Scholarships of $250 each to Seth Paradis and Matthew Vettleson.
Seth Paradis, Hannah Kolstoe, Matthew Vettleson, Ethan Vettleson, and Katie Olson were presented the 1-$600, 1-$500, and 3-$300 Vincent and Shirley Dessellier Scholarship by Mr. Vincent Dessellier.
Two -$150 Scholarships from the Frank Lund Post 159 American Legion were given to Erin Jones, and Matthew Vettleson by Mr. Rick Dulka.
Mrs. Virginia Stonehouse presented two $200 scholarships from Frank Lund Post 159 American Legion Auxiliary to Jayden Fore and Sydney Melby.
Mrs. Dani Paradis presented the $500 Lorna Wicks Scholarship to Seth Paradis.
The $1500 Essentia Health Scholarship was presented by Mrs. Dani Paradis to Katie Olson.
Hannah Kolstoe, Matthew Vettleson and Billie Jo Gryskiewicz were given the three $500 Red Lake Electric Cooperative Scholarship by Mr. Roger Johanneck.
Mrs. Roberta Aakhus presented two $500 scholarships from RLCC Education Association to Sydney Melby and Jade Person.
Mrs. Debbie DuChamp of the Plummer Lions Too presented two $100 scholarships to Katie Olson and Matthew Vettleson.
Mr. Derek Gagner handed out four scholarships of $250 each from the Plummer Lions to Hannah Kolstoe, Sydney Melby, Katie Olson and Matthew Vettleson.
Mr. Derek Gagner presented two $250 Plummer Fire Department Scholarships to Tyler Jensen and Hannah Kolstoe.
Two Grace McManus Scholarships of $500 were presented by Mrs. Suzan Gunderson to Katie Olson and Sydney Melby.
Oklee Moonlighter Snowmobile Club $250 Scholarship was given to Matthew Vettleson.
Mr. Roy Holmes presented the $350 Plummer American Legion Post #623 and the $350 Plummer American Legion Auxiliary Scholarship to Katie Olson and Seth Paradis. He gave two Citizenship Awards to Hannah Kolstoe and Matt Vettleson.
Ms. Gin Berns presented two $500 scholarships from the Oklee Ambulance to Katie Olson and Matthew Vettleson.
The Class of 2018 extends a heartfelt thanks to all the organizations and individuals/families for their generosity.
