Services for Wayne L. Hetland

Wayne L. Hetland, age 90, of Bloomington, MN, passed away on January 17, 2018. 

Wayne is survived by his loving wife of 64 years Velda (Prestby); daughters Valerie (John) Harrison and Tracey Hetland; grandchildren Patrick (Ellen) Harrison, John (Kimberly) Harrison, Katherine Harrison, and Laura (Steve) Herron; great-granddaughters Emily and Aubrey Harrison; sister Mercedes (Ralph) Iverson, and nieces and nephews. 

He was preceded in death by parents Rueben and Ruth (Odneson) Hetland.  

Wayne grew up in Gonvick, MN.  After graduating from high school, he joined the U.S. Merchant Marines and traveled the world.  He served his country with the U.S. Marine Corps (Korean War) and was awarded the Purple Heart.  

Wayne’s career spanned many years as a Funeral Director after attending the University of Minnesota and receiving his degree in Mortuary Science.  Wayne was a very caring husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, who enjoyed spending time with his family.  

A private family service will be held at Fort Snelling National Cemetery.
