Veterans Day programs in Grygla and Goodridge

The Grygla and Goodridge Schools both hosted Veterans Day programs this year. Both events were held last Thursday, November 9th at 9am.
The program schedule in Grygla included a Presentation of Colors, Invocation and Memorial History given by Pastor Vicki Saude-Worthington, GHS Choir selection under the direction of Mr. Gene Lunsetter, Student addresses by Girls and Boys State Representatives, a poem reading by Evan Fish and guest speaker Pastor Bob Dahlen, who talked about the importance of musical instruments in the military and demonstrated a variety of “calls” and songs, in addition to explaining their meaning.
A veteran’s memories was read by Trystan Jelle at the program. She read about Gerald Sistad’s service in the United States Navy. Maci Bakken and Daria Waletzki also shared information about a student service project they are organizing that involves sending care packages to soldiers and their families. The program ended with the Benediction and Retiring of Colors.
There was also a program at the Goodridge School that same morning. A welcome was given by Ms. Carlson, Principal, followed by the Presentation of the Colors and a musical selection by the Goodridge High School Band under the direction of Mrs. Skalsky. Kendra Jensen, Girls State Representative, spoke to the crowd about her experience attending Girls State last summer and Hannah Wilebski & Braiden Carver read a Veterans Day essay.
The guest speaker at the program in Goodridge was Vincent Desselier. The Kindergarten class performed “One Small Voice” and Student Council President, Brandon Stanley, gave the closing address, followed by Mercedes Coan and Mrs. Skalsky playing Taps and the Retiring of the Colors.
Thank you to all of our Veterans for their service.
