services for Donna Faye Halvorson

Donna Faye Halvorson, 75, of Bagley, MN passed away on Tuesday, November 7, 2017 at Sanford Medical Center in Fargo, ND, surrounded by loved ones.

Funeral services were held on Saturday, November 11, 2017 at 1:00 at the Zion of Eddy Lutheran Church of rural Bagley with Pastor Randy McGuire officiating. Interment at Zion Lutheran Cemetery at Bagley, MN. 

Donna was born on July 22, 1942 in Bagley. She was the daughter of Oscar and Mabel (Myra) Ranisate. Donna attended country school at Happy Hallow and graduated from Clearbrook High School in 1960. Donna married Laverne Halvorson on April 8, 1961 at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Bagley. They built a life together on a dairy farm north of Bagley where she resided until the time of her death. Soon after they were married, they were blessed with three children whom Donna devoted much of her love and time to. Donna spent her days tending to the home and making delicious meals for her family. She was very well known for making the best angel food cakes, donuts, sauerkraut, lefsa and fresh bread. Donna was an active member at Zion of Eddy Lutheran Church. She was a Sunday School teacher and was involved in Ladies Aid where she served as the secretary for many years. Donna was employed by Clearwater County Nursing Service as a Homemaker/Home Health Aid. She had a very kind heart and a calling to care for others. Donna enjoyed the simple things in life and always made time for her family and friends. 

Donna is survived by her husband of 56 years - Laverne of Bagley, MN.

One son - Ron (Rebecca Yocum) Halvorson of Clearbrook, MN

Two daughters - Gail (Michael) Maruska of Bagley, MN and Penny (David) Long of Laporte, MN.

Six Grandchildren - Michelle (Tim) Evans, Kristen Halvorson, Scott (Rachel Dale) Halvorson, Seher Kar, Kari (Tyler) Godin and Lucas Maruska.

Seven Great-Grandchildren - Carter, Mckenzie, Abigail, Kyiaa, Sophia, Lyvia and Jace. Donna was looking forward to meeting her newest Great-Grandchild (Baby Godin) due to arrive May 2018.

One brother - Roger (Deb) Ranisate, Bagley.

Brother-in-law - Duane Halvorson, Eau Claire, WI

Aunt - Sylvia Negaard of Bemidji and sister-in-law - Harriet Holm of Clearbrook, MN. 

One nephew, two nieces and many cousins.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Oscar and Mabel Ranisate; Father-in-law - Clarence Halvorson and Mother-in-law - Mary Halvorson; Brother-in law - Russell Holm; Sister-in-law - Janet Halvorson and Nephew - Greg Halvorson.
