Plummer’s Annual 4th of July Celebration was a Blast for Families

It sure was a hot 4th of July, but that did not stop people from coming out to the annual 4th of July Celebration in Plummer. Many fun activities were held including the Parade. The Parade had many cool cars, nice restored tractors, and many floats. Each car, tractor, and float the was in the parade was judged and the winners are with cars, in first place Gary and Rachel Tveiten from Thief River Falls had a 1933 Ford Sedan Delivery that was restored all by Gary. Ronald Philip got second with his 1963 Chevy Impala. Korydon Chervestad from Oklee took third place in his 1964 Chevrolet Impala Convertible.
The winners with their tractors in the parade taking first place was Jed Duden with Rodney and Jody tractor that Jed’s Great-grandpa Alpen Meyer bought new in Plummer in 1948. Tri River Museum got second place with their Model 60 Allis Chalmers Combine that was restored by museum members. Tim Christensen with his 1948 Dodge and 1937 CO-OP E2 took third place.
Many floats were brought to the parade including the American Legion Post 117 of Thief River Falls along with the Legionnaires, Auxiliary, Color Guard and Sons of the American Legion that received first place out of all the floats with their black bus. HuBerts Outdoor Power, Owner Duane Gonsoraski, from Thief River Falls took second place. Taking third place was Ultima Bank Minnesota of Plummer, Owner Dawn Shea.
In addition to the fun of the Parade there was a Kiddie Parade. With 15 entry’s it was a lot of fun for friends and families of the kids. One of the entry’s in the Kiddie Parade was Dylan, Dalton, Fern, and Adeline Wichterman, parents are Ryan and Jennifer Wichterman, who represented Barry’s Welding. Another entry was Briar Bernstrom, son of Charlie and Mallory (Gerardy) Bernstrom, who represented Bernstrom Oil Company, who is a 5th Generation. Many of the Kiddie Parade entry’s had bikes or rides that were decked out with Fourth of July accessories, the kids also showed pride by wearing Fourth of July apparel.
The Plummer 4th of July Celebration was an overall fun experience for families and kids. It was an opportunity to spend time with family during the parade, get some candy, and for all the restorers to show off their hard work.
