Arsenic and Old Lace to be performed

RLCC's production of the three act comedy ARSENIC AND OLD LACE is only two weeks away. The cast is working hard to get the sets, and rehearsals to reenact this comedy that began its run on Broadway in 1941.
This is one of the most popular comedies to come out of New York.
The play is about two elderly sisters Abby Brewster (Sydney Melby) and Martha Brewster (Hannah Kolstoe) as the sweetest aunt that anyone could have. Mortimer (Tom Nelson) just broke down to ask his girlfiend Elaine Harper (Kara Longtin) to marry him. This is what both the aunts and Elaine have been plotting for months. Elaine figures she had to break it to her father Rev. Dr. Harper (Britain Art) gently or he would be reading the riot act through the scripture that his innocent little daughter would stoop so low to marry a theater critic.
Teddy Brewster (Natalie Aakhus) thinks that she is Teddy Roosevelt and is about to attack San Juan Hill. When Officer Brophy (Tera Qualley)and Officer Klein (Jayden Iverson) show up to get toys for the orphans, one begins to understand all the various charities these sweet aunts are involved.
Mortimer makes a gruesome discovery as he is talking of the play he was to see tonight called Murder Will Out. As Mortimer lifts the window seat, he discovers the body of Mr. Hoskins. He panics figuring Teddy committed murder to discover his sweet aunt's newest charity is to help lonely old men find permanent peace in their cellar.
There are more twists and turns as Mortimer tries to protect his aunts from being arrested as mass murderers. But another wrinkle was whe Johnathan Brewster (Nick Pahlen) and Dr. Einstein ( Jade Person) return to Brooklyn to hide from the police. Jonathan was a killer with twelve men he had killed all over the world, In fact he has Mr. Spenalzo in the rumble seat. Fun really hits the fan with disappearing bodies, inept police jumping to conclusions, and other unimaginable fun as we bring this hilarious comedy to you. We will be performing the show on Tuesday-Thursday April 18th-20th in the Oklee High School Gymnasium at 7:30.
