Services for Rosella Keester

Rosella Keester, Thief River Falls, MN, age 84, died Thursday, March 23, 2017 at Pioneer Memorial Care Center, Erskine, MN

Funeral services will be held 2:00 PM Monday March 27, 2017 at Johnson Funeral Service in Thief River Falls, MN with Pastor Jim Robberstad officiating.  Burial will follow at St. Petri Cemetery, Grygla, MN.

Visitation will be one hour prior to the funeral at Johnson Funeral Service on

Rosella Sollid was born on April 17, 1932 in Grygla, MN the daughter of Halbor and Annie Sollid.

In her early years, she attended school in the Grygla, MN area.

Rosella was united in marriage to Gilbert Keester. They were a member of the Ogalala Sioux Tribe in South Dakota, and were married over 50 years. Together they had four children, Gilvern “Sonny”, Gilman “Kevin”, Arlene Crawford, and Maydeen Josefczyk.

They lived on a ranch in Manderson, SD where she helped a lot. Rosella also worked with foster children for many years. She returned to Grygla, MN to care for her brother Ervin and raised her granddaughter Crystal. In 2008 Rosella moved to Valley Home, and then to the Thief River Care Center in 2012.

She loved being outdoors, taking care of yard work, and she traveled back and forth to South Dakota to see the kids.

Survivors include her children Gilvern “Sonny” Keester, Manderson, SD, Gilman “Kevin” Keester, Manderson, SD, Arlene Crawford, Hermosa, SD, and Maydeen Josefczyk, Manderson, SD; grandchild Crystal Keester, Thief River Falls, MN, and many great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband Gilbert who passed away in Rapid City, SD in 2007, brothers Henry Sollid and Ervin Sollid, sister Hattie Sollid, and several half brothers and sisters.
