RLCC’s Triple “A” nominee, Shelby Gunderson

Shelby Gunderson, Red Lake County Central High School senior, was selected to represent RLCC in the Academics, Arts and Athletics Award program, Principal Randy Pederson announced in February.
Established in 1988, the Academics, Arts and Athletics Award (Triple “A” Award) is sponsored by the Minnesota State High School League. The award goes to a high school seniors who have a ‘B” or better grade point average and who participate in the League-sponsored athletic and fine art activities.
Gunderson is the daughter of Jamey and Suzie Gunderson. She currently has a 3.6 gpa including taking the following online college courses: Cultural Anthropology, General Psychology, Abnormal Psychology, and Public Speaking. Gunderson is on the “B” honor roll and is involved in National Honor Society and Knowledge Bowl. For academics she enjoys the Social Science area the most.
For arts, she was in choir for one year and band for two years. She also was a member of the speech team for four years and competes in Prose and Great Speeches. Her favorite is speech. For athletics Gunderson participated in volleyball for six years and basketball for two. Volleyball has been her favorite sport.
Gunderson’s future plans include attending Northland Community and Technical College in Thief River Falls finishing her AA degree.
