Elderly nutrition site in Clearbrook has new cook

Sheryl Severson is the new cook at the Clearbrook-Leonard Senior Center. She prepares meals for the Home Delivered Meals program and delivers nutritious meals to older adults and people with disabilities who are unable to prepare the food for themselves or travel to a site where a meal is being served.

Sheryl started working at the Clearbrook site on Monday, January 23, 2017. She is from Bagley where she lives with her husband Roby.

She spent the last 15 years as a cook at Pine Ridge in Bagley. She has two grown children Eric and his wife Amber and daughter, Erin and husband Brady Olson and three grandchildren ages 17, 15 and 12. She wishes they were 2, 5 and 7 again. They all live in the area. 

She will work every week day at the center and have weekends off to do her favorite of flower gardening. She also likes to restore old furniture for herself.

The program is under Lutheran Social Service (LSS) and is referred to as Meals on Wheels. Senior Nutrition provides nutritious, low-cost meals for seniors 60 years or older.  Meals are delivered to homebound seniors by volunteers. There is no income criteria. 

In addition to a nutritious meal, LSS Senior Nutrition at the Clearbrook-Leonard site provides, social outlets and interaction, information about senior services and connections with trusted professionals. If you enter the Site in Clearbrook there is always a puzzle going and cards are played. Lloyd and Phyllis Engen and Carol Croy along with helpers in the craft shop help to keep the center going.

Lutheran Social Service – Senior Nutrition Program is located in the Clearbrook-Leonard Senior Center on Main Street in Clearbrook. Meals are served daily at 11:30 at the Clearbrook site except for evening meals served at 5 p.m.  They are subject to change. Please register for meals at least the day before. Call 776-3154 to sign up. They are also looking for volunteers to help at the center.
