January Spotlight on Support Staff

January Spotlight on Support Staff:
Andy Anderson was hired by Clearbrook-Gonvick Public school in 2014 as the district’s Behavior Interventionist. He was previously employed as a School Resource Officer through the Sheriff’s Office from 2007-2012.  He and his wife, Sabrina, have one daughter, Ava, a cat named Bob and a dog, Clyde.  They live in the area near his parents Bernie and Kathy. Andy has two sisters, Amber and Molly, and one brother named Kyle.
Andy grew up in Bagley, attended Bagley High School and graduated in 2002.  He then attended Northwest Tech for Carpentry and a few years later attended and graduated from Northland in Thief River Falls in 2007 with a degree in Criminal Justice.  He married his wife in 2007 and their daughter was born in 2011.  In 2007, he was saved by the Grace of God.
Why did you choose to work in a school? I believe that as long as we work hard, stay in prayer and be open to our predetermined destiny, we are right where we are suppose to be no matter where that is.  So, I simply believe I was put here with a purpose.
What did you do before coming to Clearbrook-Gonvick? I was a Deputy Sheriff for Clearwater County Sheriff’s Office.  I have also done carpentry, bagged groceries, sold auto parts, spliced fiber optic cable and was a Corrections Officer at the jail.
What is the best part of your job at Clearbrook-Gonvick? When a student has a breakthrough because a connection was made between me and that student!  I also like everyone I work with and my schedule.
What is the biggest challenge of your job?  On the very busy days, effectively reaching people is difficult.
If you could have any job in the world - what would it be? Why?  I would love to play in the dirt with large equipment, but still be able to be home every day.  I love running equipment, but many jobs like that require absence from home.
What do you do when you are not at school?  Carpentry, hunt, fish, spend time with family.
What are your favorite aspects of the Clearbrook-Gonvick community? Everyone is welcoming and willing to give you a chance even if you are not from here.
Any other favorites you would like to share?  Favorite food - Ribeye Steak and Asparagus.  Favorite music - Casting Crowns.  Favorite Shows - Gold Rush, Deadliest Catch, Limitless, and This is Us.
And now a word or two about Andy Anderson from the staff that work by his side...
“He is a great asset to our staff.  Andy does so much for our school and is always willing to help someone in need, both at school and on his own time.” “Andy is always willing to help where needed.  He has a calming presence.  He is patient and kind. No matter what happens during any day, Andy is always positive and caring.” “I am sure that Andy is in the small percentage of society that never has a bad day.  At least if he does, he never let's us see it.” “When the position of behavior interventionist became available, the Clearbrook-Gonvick district was fortunate to gain Andy Anderson to our staff.  He truly cares for each of our students, is promoting educating our students on expectations and is a firm believer in rewarding students for meeting said expectations. He believes consequences need to be both positive and at times negative, and the consequence should make ‘sense’ for both the students and parents.  His goal for our school is to improve ‘citizenship’ among our student population, as it is a lifelong skill that is valued far more than academics alone.” “Andy works hard to promote his positive attitude with others and share his knowledge with students to improve their overall school experience. It is my great pleasure to work side by side with Andy daily.”
