Services for Merwyn “Pete” Dale Haney
Merwyn “Pete” Dale Haney, 87, passed into eternity surrounded by family on October 25, 2016, at Our House Senior Living in Whitewater, WI.
Pete was born in the town of Clearbrook, MN, on November 25, 1928; the third of five children born to Clyde W. and Amanda J. (Lund) Haney. He married Ida Helen Erickson on July 15, 1950, in Crystal Lake, IL.
After working several farming jobs in northern Illinois and southern Wisconsin, he settled in Palmyra, Wisconsin where he worked for Artesian Farms for 22 years. After retiring from Artesian Farms he worked another 10 years delivering parts for Car Quest in Whitewater, WI. When he wasn’t farming, he enjoyed watching sports (especially the Packers), drinking coffee with friends at Edge of Town Café in Palmyra, spending time with his family, and telling stories to his grandchildren, who will hold those stories in sweet memory.
Pete is preceded in death by his parents, Clyde and Amanda; and a grandson, Seth Krause.
He is survived by Ida, his loving wife of 66 years; his children, Sharon (Larry) Krause of Viroqua, WI; Karen (Ray) Blazer of Harvard, IL; Debbie (David) Houtsinger of Delavan, WI; Scott (Mary Beth) Haney of Whitewater, WI; and Kim (John) Weiss of Whitewater, WI; his brother, Wallace Haney of Grand Forks, ND; and sisters, Carol Johnson of Lakota, ND; Shirley Sonterre of Grand Forks, ND; and Mavis Szabla of Brooklyn Park, MN; 19 grandchildren, 55 great grandchildren, and 2 great-great grandchildren.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to the wonderful staff at Our House Senior Living for their excellent care and compassionate concern during Pete’s stay there.
Memorial service will be held at 11:00AM on Tuesday, November 1, 2016 at First Baptist Church 205 Highway 92 SW, Clearbrook, MN 56634. Burial will follow at Friendship Cemetery in Leonard, MN.
