Services for Richard “Dick” Engen

Richard “Dick” Engen ,61, of Clearbrook, MN  died on June 29, 2016 as a result of a motorcycle accident near Clearbrook, MN. 

 

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, July 7, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Clearbrook with the Reverend Bob Kirchman officiating.  Visitation will be on Wednesday, July 6, 2016 from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m. with a prayer service at 6:00 at the Cease Family Funeral Home Chapel in Bagley. Interment will be at Oak Park Cemetery near Clearbrook, MN. 

 

Dick was born on January 5, 1955 in Fosston, Minnesota the son of Norman and Lorraine (Nordlund) Engen. 

He graduated from Clearbrook High School and studied at BSU and Bemidji Vo-Tech. He dated his high school sweetheart, Bonnie and followed her to Minneapolis.  Following Bonnie’s graduation, the two married and began their lifelong journey in Clearbrook where they raised their family. Dick had a lifetime passion for anything with an engine and was able to create a workable machine from just a box of parts.  In his career, he spent many years as a maintenance supervisor working for various companies including Lutheran Brotherhood, Paul Bunyan Mall, North Country Regional Hospital, Gustafson and Goudge Inc. and Riviana Foods.  In 1995, Dick opened Clearbrook Truck and Tire Center which he owned and operated until the day of his passing.  An active community member, he served with various groups and committees including the Clearwater Trailblazers Snowmobile Club and Good Shepherd Church Council.  When not working, Dick enjoyed spending time with family, motorcycle rides, Nascar racing, traveling with friends, camping, crossword puzzles, and collecting toy tractors.  Dick always placed his family and friends above everything else and will be remembered as a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather, and friend and will be dearly missed.

 

He is survived by his wife – Bonnie Engen of Clearbrook, MN

Son – Brandon “BJ” (Linda) Engen of Clearbrook, MN

Son – Bryan (Kacey) Engen of Clearbrook, MN

Daughter – Maggi (Derek) Johnson of White Bear Lake, MN

Mom – Lorraine Sorenson of Clearbrook, MN

Grandchildren – Ella, Abby, Hayden, Meika, Trey, Grant, Mya, Lauren and Leighton.

Mother-in-law – Edna Dahlke of Clearbrook, MN

Sisters-in-law – Elaine Dahlke; Eloise Dahlke; Eileen (Larry) Refshaw;  Elrene Higgins;  Sharon Dahlke and Martha (David) Engebretson

Brothers-in-law – Gary Dahlke, Gene (Judy) Dahlke and Randy Dahlke

Numerous nieces, nephews and cousins

 

He was preceded in death by his dad – Norman; sister – Cheryl; Brothers-in-law - LeRoy Dahlke, Kenny Dahlke and Peter Higgins
