Paul Balstad

Paul Balstad, age 59, of Moorhead, MN and formerly of the McIntosh/Winger area, passed away on Thursday, September 17th, at his home. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, October 3rd, at Calvary Lutheran Church in Winger with Theresa Sandness, SAM, officiating. Interment will be in Bethel Lutheran Cemetery, rural Winger. Family will greet friends for one hour prior to the service on Saturday (October 3rd) at the church. Paul Allen Balstad was born on February 6, 1967, in Crookston, Minnesota to Floyd and Joyce (Hegland) Balstad. He grew up in the McIntosh/Winger area and graduated from McIntosh-Winger High School in 1985. After high school, Paul attended Bemidji State University and graduated with a teaching degree in history.

Throughout his life, he lived in a variety of areas, including North Carolina, Grand Forks, McIntosh, and was currently residing in Moorhead. He taught for a short time but most of his working years were spent as a driver for taxi or delivery.

Paul was a big fan of the Twins and Vikings. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and visiting. He was very much a social butterfly.

Survivors include his father, Floyd (Gerri) of Mentor, MN; three children, Daulton Balstad (Amber) of Chisholm, MN, Travis Balstad of Fargo, ND, and Sarah Balstad (Cody) of Chisholm, MN; one granddaughter, Danica; two brothers, David (Shawnn) Balstad of Fertile, MN, and Dale Balstad of Winger, MN; two nephews, Grant (Elle) Balstad and Everett Balstad.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Joyce.
