- St. Pauli Lutheran Church Fall Event
- St. Pauli Lutheran Church of rural Thief River Falls will host their annual fall event on Sunday, October 4, 2026 at 3 p.m. Musical entertainment will be provided by Peter Samuelson. Peter is a singer and acoustic cover artist based out of Thief River Falls, who injects his creativity and passion into songs from your favorite musicians. Some artists covered include James Taylor, Bob Dylan, Jason Isbell, among many others. With a blend of folk, blues, and country, you’re sure to hear meaningful songs that tell a story you can enjoy.
- Following the one-hour program, enjoy homemade pie and ice cream, beverages, and fellowship. A freewill offering will support many local, regional, and global charities. Extra pies will be sold by the slice, or whole, as supplies last.
- St. Pauli Lutheran Church is located at 11015 170th Ave. NE, Thief River Falls. Directions from Thief River Falls are 3.5 miles southeast on Hwy. 59 and 3 miles south on County Road 20.

September 23 - Nell Program on Archeological Recreation of a Viking Age grave with Steph Anderson. Step back more than a thousand years as she explores the archaeological recreation of a Viking Age grave, revealing the people, culture and craftsmanship behind this remarkable discovery. This NELL program will be held at the McIntosh Community Center on September 23. Program begins at 9:30, doors open at 9am with refreshments available. September 26 – Gonvick Pumpkin day in Gonvick with many activities. Also, the 21st annual Vintage Collectors Auto Show 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. Music by Wild Wes. History Center in Shevlin Begins Fall Hours
The History Center in Shevlin switched to its Fall Hours on September 1st. The museum will be open Tuesdays through Fridays from 10:00 am to 4:00 pm and by appointment. The current exhibits will end on November 13, and the staff will begin to set up for the 2026 Festival of Trees that will open on December 1st. The museum is closed on Saturdays, Sundays and Mondays. For more information, to make an appointment for a tour or to do research, call the history center at 218-785-2000.

Minnesota voters are deciding this fall whether schools should get more money from a state trust fund. The constitutional amendment would increase payouts from the Permanent School Fund. The fund was established in 1858 with proceeds from the sale of timber and minerals. Supporters say the change could give districts more flexible funding without raising taxes. Advocates are trying to raise awareness of the amendment because ballots with the question left blank will be counted as no votes against the proposal.
Shop local. Eat fresh! Market on Main Street, Clearbrook (MOMS) is the new name for Bakken’s Grocery as part of their rebranding. They had special events last week. They are now offering broasted chicken on Wednesdays. You can expect fresh produce, quality meat, and more as they invest in the store. Look for professionally smoked meats to be available soon. The rebranding and refresh—including the new name, updated signage, and renovated store environment—ensure that Market on Main Street, Clearbrook remains a trusted neighborhood grocery destination with a look to the future.

Tidbits
Officials say one worker is injured after a fuel tank explosion in Duluth’s Lincoln Park neighborhood. The blast happened shortly after 1:45 p.m. Monday afternoon September 14 at Superior Fuel on West Michigan Street. Firefighters arrived at the scene to find smoke and cooled two nearby tanks with water and foam. Police closed surrounding roads, but officials say no widespread evacuations were needed. The Duluth Fire Marshal’s Office is investigating the cause of the explosion.

O.K. Fire and Fencing is organizing a Kiddo Rodeo immediately following the events at pumpkin days in Gonvick at 5pm September 26th, 2026! They will be holding this event at the rodeo grounds in Gonvick. Every child gets a turn and a prize for participating! There is no entry fee to children, but they do accept free will donations from the adult audience to help offset the cost of organizing the rodeo.
The Festival of Trees will be held again at the History Center in Shevlin starting on December 1. Reserve your space by October 1 by calling 217-785-2000.
