The Gonvick City Council met in regular session on Thursday, September 10. The minutes of the August 8 and August 31 meetings were approved.
Clarence LaCroix sheriff candidate for Clearwater County introduced himself to the council He a U.S. Army National Guard veteran who deployed on active duty overseas and has 15 years of experience in local law enforcement with the Bagley Police Department and Clearwater County Sheriff's Office. He currently serves as a Bagley School Resource Officer.
Police Report from Ryan Solee included 14 records. They were Civil Complaint Threats 1; Disorderly Hazmat 1; Information Only 3; Juvenile Misc. 1; Medical 4; Mental Health 1; Predatory Offender Registration 1; Suspicious Activity, Medical Total 1; Welfare Check 1.
Cody Rude, Fire Chief was not at the meeting. Report given that they had one mutual aid with Fosston for a fire; a few medicals, meetings, training and a work night.
Maintenance with Dan Johnson has checked street signs and there are a few missing. He will get quotes on how much they would cost to replace them.
The council passed resolution 26-07 approving donations. They received $6,000 from the Gonvick Diamond Jubilee Committee to be put in the Pumpkin Day activities fund.
Discussion was held on the old city hall that does not belong to the city. They have established a City Hall project fund that would help to take down the building which is deteriorating. The fund now has $7,208.01. The city can’t solicit donations or do fundraising but can set up an account that can be used for that purpose.
The Library Link site requested a bulletin board be put up in the hall near their office door in the community center. They want to put announcements on.
The 2027 preliminary budget levy, water and sewer rates and age negotiations for 2027 were put on to next month’s meeting.
The Northern State Bank had signature cards for council members to sign checks for the city to be done.
Bills were approved with $38,767.99 for General; $19504.23 for Water and Sewer and $8,389.15 for Fire for a total of $66,661.37.
The next City Council meeting will be held on October 8 at 5:00 p.m.
