Clearwater County 4-H Showcases Hard Work, Learning and Community Support at the County Fair
The Clearwater County Fair once again provided an exciting opportunity for 4-H youth to showcase the projects they have worked on throughout the year. This year, 166 Clearwater County 4-H youth participated in the county fair, bringing an impressive variety of projects and animals to share with the community.
The numbers tell the story of just how much time, effort and learning went into this year’s fair. Youth had the opportunity to explore their interests, develop new skills and share what they had learned throughout the year. Animal science was also a major part of the Clearwater County 4-H presence at the fair, with 819 animal science exhibits. Through their animal projects, youth developed valuable skills in responsibility, animal care, record keeping, grooming and showing, while also learning about the importance of agriculture and where our food comes from. Clearwater County’s youngest 4-H members, Cloverbuds, also had the opportunity to participate, with 116 Cloverbud exhibits showcased at the fair. The Cloverbud experience introduces younger youth to the excitement of 4-H and gives them an opportunity to learn, participate and celebrate their accomplishments. But the 4-H experience at the county fair extends far beyond the exhibit buildings and livestock barns. It takes a tremendous team of youth, families and volunteers to make the week successful.
This year, 192 youth and adult volunteers helped support Clearwater County 4-H activities during the fair. Most of these volunteers contributed their time to the 4-H Food Stand, one of the program’s largest fundraisers. From preparing and serving food to cleaning, stocking supplies and helping customers, volunteers worked together throughout the fair to keep the food stand running. The food stand is more gram.
The funds raised help support educational opportunities, programs and activities for Clearwater County 4-H youth throughout the year. While ribbons and awards are an exciting part of the fair experience, the true value of 4-H is found in the skills youth develop along the way. Members learn responsibility, communication, problem-solving, perseverance and leadership through their project experiences. They learn to set goals, overcome challenges and take pride in their accomplishments.
The projects displayed, animals cared for and countless volunteer hours represent the dedication of youth, families and volunteers who give their time and talents to make the program successful. Clearwater County 4-H is proud of the 166 youth who showcased their hard work at this year’s county fair and grateful for the 192 youths and adults who volunteered their time. Their combined efforts than a fundraiser. It is a place where 4-H members and adults work side by side, practice communication and customer service skills, take responsibility and contribute to the success of the 4-H pro demonstrate the strength of 4-H and the importance of community support.
