Greenbush race park results
With rain seemingly everywhere in the region, the GRP was able to dodge the clouds for a great night of racing action. A perfectly prepped and smooth, slick racing surface was enjoyed by driver and fans alike.
The first class out after some track prep was the Agassiz Insurance WISSOTA Pure Stocks. They were led to the green flag by Mason Schlin on the pole and Kade Leaper started in second. Scholin would grab the early lead. Leaper would have to retire his car to the pit area later in the race with a mechanical issue. Mason Smith worked his way quickly to the lead and would take home the win while surviving a few restarts and challenges from Scholin and Shannon George who finished in third.
The T & B Auto 4-Cylinders took to the track with a stout field of cars. A battle of attrition ensued with nearly half the field out of contention by the end of the race. Early on it looked like Hayden Engen was going to take home his first win of the season. After several restarts it was Nick McCann able to get the jump and snag the lead away from Engen with a handful of laps remaining. Engen would finish second, with Troy Foster, who started 2nd, finishing in third.
The Farmers Co-op Ag Services WISSOTA Midwest Mods were next in line with a full field of cars set to battle for 20 laps. Aaron Blacklance and Connor Drewry led the field as the green flag was displayed. Both drivers would stay at the front of the field for most of the event. Justin Olson started third and battled for the lead on several occasions, going three wide with the lead duo multiple times. Soon they all had some serious completion as the car who started 7th driven by Dylan McCaughan worked his way forward. He was able to pass on the low side of turn two and get a good run where the other cars couldn’t. As the laps dwindled the speed of McCaughan was too much as he would take home the victory. Finishing behind him was Blacklance, Olson, Drewry, and Memphis Klassen in 5th.
The Todds Electric Lightning Sprints were once again the fastest cars of the night, besting the other classes by two seconds. As the laps went by quickly, so did the passes for position by several cars. Emmit Isane and Zander Anderson were set to lead the field to green, but mechanical difficulties would leave Anderson in the pits allowed Dexter Dvergstein to move up a row and start next to Isane. When the green flag was given to the field it was Isane who took the early lead. After a few laps Dvergstein made the pass for the lead and looked like he was on his way to the win. Isane wisely switched his line and slowly reeled the leader within striking distance. When Dvergstein went high around a lapped car, Isane took advantage of it and regained control of the race. He would stay there and park his car in victory lane. Finishing second was Dvergstein, followed by Evan Yannish, Luke Hendrickson, and Hayden Koehmstedt rounding out the top five spots.
The final feature of the evening was the RCCA WISSOTA Modifieds. Ward Imre and Bryce Borgen were out front when the field lit the fuse on an exciting race. Imre, not very familiar with chasing leader tried to chase down Borgen. Borgen ran a perfect race from the start. Using the middle of the track in one and two, and the very top of the track exiting turn 4, he was able to pull away. Imre tried several different lines to close the gap with no avail. Those two cars were well ahead of the chaos as many cars battled for third through seventh positions. When the checkered flags were in the air, it was Borgen with an impressive victory, followed by Imre. Deryk Weleski would pass five cars to finish third followed by Dustin Wahl, and Connor Graff in fifth.
