Gully is planning to celebrate our country’s 250th year of independence in fun, interesting ways. The long weekend begins in Gully Thursday evening July 2nd, with a Whist tournament starting at 6:30 at the Community Center.
At noon on Friday, July 3rd, a number of children’s activities will begin, from a Scavenger hunt, chalk art, and games to a Bouncy House. There will even be horse and wagon tours of Gully for all ages.
Bingo enthusiasts may try a new twist with Music Bingo at Shorty’s from 2-4:00 pm. The host plays music and players look for the title on their cards.
A free community meal is scheduled from 5-6:30 (July 3rd) at the Community Center. Talented local musicians will entertain during the meal. Food will be served for the first 250 people.
A new thing for Gully is “Local lore story-telling, open mic”, hosted by Ann Marie Newman. This will begin after the community meal. Come share a story: “I remember when”, “A funny thing happened” or “A lesson learned” may bring to mind a story you can tell.
Then stay for the Knowledge Bowl…..Trail vs Gully. With this friendly rivalry, who will be this year’s champs?
Top off Friday night with a street dance with the Donny Dahl Band. Expect powerhouse vocals and high energy. Bring a chair and enjoy the music.
What better way to start the day Saturday than with a pancake and sausage breakfast at Lund Church. Breakfast will be served from 8-10 am. This will give just enough time to be ready for the big parade!
The parade line-up begins at 9:00, with starting time at 10:30. All types of entrants are welcome in the parade. Cash prizes will be given.
After the parade the celebration moves to Trail for the rest of the weekend. There, a full range of activities are planned from Saturday afternoon through Sunday. Fireworks will again be a feature for Trail beginning at dusk Saturday night.
Shop local. Eat fresh! Market on Main Street , Clearbrook (MOMS) is the new name for Bakken’s Grocery as part of their rebranding. In addition to the name change, they are renovating the store’s interior and updating features to enhance your shopping experience at this long-time community staple. You can expect fresh produce, quality meats, and more as they invest in the store. Look for professionally smoked meats to be available in the near future. Their goal is to make it convenient and easy for shoppers to find what they need for tonight’s dinner. The rebranding and refresh—including the new name, updated signage, and renovated store environment—ensure that Market on Main Street, Clearbrook remains a trusted neighborhood grocery destination with a look to the future. They will be having a grand reopening this summer
Gonvick’s 36th Annual Rodeo Days will be held July 10th & July 11th. We would like to invite you to be in our Rodeo Days Parade!! The parade will be held on Saturday, July 11th. Registration is from 12:30 to 1:45, with the parade to begin at 2 p.m. Check-in point will be on Railroad Avenue east of the Community Center. We will give you your parade number when you check in. We will have numbered stakes for the parade line-up to match with your parade entry number.
Vacation Bible School at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Clearbrook will be Rainforest Falls Exploring the Nature of God. Dates are set for August 11 to 13 pm 9:00 a.m. to noon. Bring your own lunches. Look for registration information to be mailed. Open to kids going into Grades 1 to 5.

Come Join the Parade
Vintage cars, tractors, floats, walkers, other creative entries (and even politicians) are welcome to join the parade in Gully on the 4th of July. The parade will begin at 10:30 am, with registration and lining up starting at 9:00. Prizes will be given.
Non-participants are invited to just come and watch!
Gully and Trail are jointly planning this 4th of July celebration due to it being our country’s 250 years of independence. Following the parade the celebration will resume in Trail.

James Jeffrey Davids died at age 57 in his home in Rosemount, MN on March 13, 2026. Graveside services are at 2 pm on Thursday July 2, 2026 at Samhold Lutheran Church Cemetery in Gonvick, MN.

Principal Tharaldson says Clearbrook-Gonvick students have registered for their classes next year. New students will have an opportunity to register in the fall at the back-to-school registration event. New Families with students who would be interested in attending Clearbrook-Gonvick next year are encouraged to contact the office to start the registration process this spring before summer break for planning purposes. Janet Knutson has published a new book
Janet Helene Hanson Knutson has written a poetry book. After several people urged her to get one done. She has published her first one, “Keeper of the Tree: A memoir in poems, prose, and historical nonfiction.” She was born in Berner to parents Alfred and Emma Hanson. Her two brothers Don and Bob completed the family. She enjoys writing and has submitted articles, historical information and pictures to area history books that have been printed. She and her husband Lloyd were married for 67 years. They had two sons Daniel and Dean. He passed away In October last year and the book was dedicated in his memory.

The History Center in Shevlin Begins Summer Hours. The History Center in Shevlin has started its summer hours. The museum and historical buildings are now open Tuesday through Friday from 10:00-4:00 and Saturday from 10:00 to 2:00. There are all new exhibits in the main gallery and several new items inside the historic buildings. Free admission, donations welcome. The Minnesota Department of Natural Resources is waiving vehicle permit fees at all 73 state parks and recreation areas. This Free Park Day is one of four days each year on which visitors don’t need a vehicle permit at state parks and recreation areas. The DNR offers one-free day in each season, giving Minnesotans an opportunity to experience the parks at different times of year.
