In the words of Shania Twain, “Let’s go girls!”

As of press time Monday, March 7th, it’s on to the Girls Basketball Section 8A Semi-Finals at the Ralph Engelstad Arena where the Chargers will play the Warren-Alvarado-Oslo Ponies at 6pm for the Sub-Section Championship! By the time this paper hits your mailbox, let’s hope we’re celebrating yet another win advancing the GG Chargers to the Section Final, which will also be held at the Ralph in Thief River Falls on Friday, March 11th. Per Jamie Lunsetter, Grygla Athletic Director, it’s been since 2005-2006 since Goodridge/Grygla has made it this far where that team lost in the sub-section final to SAC.
Good luck to our Lady Chargers!

Coach Elroy Johnsrud, “The girls played a good game for the biggest game of the season. The crowd was awesome, the atmosphere was awesome, and it was a good night in Grygla! The girls looked a little nervous right away, but settled down and started playing the game. Our defense let up a few times, but for the most part, played well.  Offensively I thought we moved well and passed well.”
Saturday, March 5th, Chargers vs. BGMR at Ralph Engelstad Arena (Round 2)
GG 44, BGMR 40
GG Stats: Hannah Wilebski- 3 points; Chesney Salo- 13 points; Caitlyn Jacobson- 16 points, 10 rebounds; Sadie Anderson- 2 points, 6 rebounds; Katelyn Larson- 10 points, 6 rebounds
BGMR Stats: Jade Reese- 4 points; Hannah Bergsnev- 3 points; Kenzie Dahl- 4 points;
Kinsley Hanson- 15 points; Jacey Wojchowski- 6 points; Cassie Dahl- 8 points
Coach Elroy Johnsrud, “The girls got to play their first game in the Ralph. Early in the game, you could tell we had some jitters. BGMR got a little lead on us while that was happening. Then we calmed down and played a good game after that. It was a battle the whole game, and the girls fought the whole game. Defensively we played well. Holding BGMR to 40 points. Offensively we handled the pressure well while they were doing their press and guarding us tightly in the half court.”
As stated above, the GG Chargers play WAO Ponies on Monday, March 7th, at the Ralph Engelstad Arena in Thief River Falls. If they win that game, they’ll be back at the REA on Friday, March 11th, competing in the Section Final!
Congratulations to Coach Elroy Johnsrud and the entire team!
