Women who Put Their Stamp on History is theme for 2026 First Lady event
On Saturday morning April 11, at 10:00 at the Bagley American Legion Auditorium, the Clearwater County Historical Society will announce the 2026 Clearwater County First Lady. In keeping with tradition since 1977, the selection has been made but the name of the chosen lady is being kept a secret- even from the lady herself!
The program will include light refreshments and featured speakers include 2025 First Lady Ruth Halvorson and Tamara Edevold, Executive Director of the Clearwater County Historical Society. Edevold will talk about Clearwater County women who Put Their Stamp on History: the many woman in our county who worked at Postmasters, including Vera Hegg Eldevik, Evelyn Johnson, Carrie Olberg and even a past First Lady, Dorothy Katzenmeyer; among others.
The First National Bank, National Bank of Commerce both of Bagley, Border State Bank of Clearbrook and The Northern State Bank of Gonvick are sponsoring the award that will be given to the 2026 First Lady. This year’s event is co-hosted by the Clearwater County Historical Society and the Bagley America Legion Auxiliary.
Tickets ($20.00 each) are available until Wednesday April 8 at the History Center in Shevlin. They must be prepaid, No tickets will be sold at the door. For more information, contact the History Center at 785-2000 or stop by in Shevlin open Tuesday – Friday 10:00- 4:00
