Volunteer of The Year for Rydell & Glacial Ridge National Wildlife Refuges

Randy Sondrol of rural Erskine, MN was recently awarded the 2017 Rydell and Glacial Ridge National Wildlife Refuges (NWR) Volunteer of The Year Award by U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service staff.  Each year, staff from Rydell and Glacial Ridge NWRs select one individual for this award, based on their volunteer contributions to the refuges.  During the past year, Randy volunteered over 100 hours, conducting grounds and facilities maintenance, assisting with public use events, and working as a Board Member for the non-profit Friends of Rydell and Glacial Ridge Refuges Association (FRGRRA), which serves an important support function for refuge operations, including public use, environmental education, and interpretation.  In addition to becoming a Board Member with the FRGRRA, Randy completed U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service Heavy Equipment Training that enables him to provide specialized assistance to refuge staff related to habitat management and trail maintenance.  Congratulations to Randy for being recognized for his substantial contributions as a U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service volunteer.
