Merry Christmas Clearwater County! With 2025 nearly over and 2026 upon us, I wanted to take the time to speak about the accomplishments of the Veteran Community in Clearwater County. 2025 was a good year for Clearwater County Veterans overall. First, we saw the largest amount of federal dollars going to Veterans Healthcare, Education and direct payments to Veterans. That number has hit a record for our county at $12,011,353. Second, the family of Michael Bennet of Hines Minnesota donated a handy cap van to the Veterans Transportation fund. This handy cap van needed some work and local charities donated $6000 to have it repaired. It is now up and running and now finally, Clearwater County can service Veterans who are handy capped. Full year 2025 has seen Clearwater County spend $10,509.94 on transporting Veterans to and from medical appointments. The majority of these funds are donated to the Veterans Service Office from community members or groups. Third, the Bagley Vet Center has continued to grow to 15 Veterans. The Vet Center for Bagley is located within the County Board of Commissioners’ room in the courthouse. The Vet Center provides eligible Veterans in our community Mental Health Services close to home. As of the writing of this article, the Clearwater County Veteran Service Office has had 381 face to face visits for the year and over 900 other interactions with Veterans. As an announcement for the community, starting January 1st, 2026 through February 20th, 2026 the Veterans Service Office will have reduced hours. The Veterans Service Office will be open very Monday from 8AM – 4:30PM. Please still bring your concerns to the office. You will get taken care of.
