The North West Division of Student Councils hosted a Spring Summit on Wednesday, February 28 at Lincoln High School in Thief River Falls. The NWD is an association of over 12 different Student’s Councils around the North West. At this year’s Spring Summit elections were held for positions on the NWD executive board.
Two members were elected to the North West Division executive board from Red Lake County Central High School, Calyssa Eskeli as president and Lily Guillemette as a representative. They both had to give a two-minute speech and answer three questions in front of the division. As well as campaigning in the morning, each candidate designed tri-fold boards and brought a variety of candies.
Also at the Spring Summit, students participated in packaging meals for the Food for Kidz organization. The meals packaged by the students will be distributed to food shelfs and programs around the NWD. RLCC Student Senate donated money towards the cost of the food which made it possible to donate four boxes of packaged meals to the Back-Pack program at Red Lake County Central Elementary School.
