Sophomores attend Target Leadership Conference in Thief River Falls

Approximately 15 schools from the area went to the Target Leadership Conference. The conference took place on January 8th at the Thief River Falls Ralph Engelstad Arena. At the conference students mainly were all together in one group except when divided into groups for activities. Craig Hillier told inspirational stories and had the students do activities with others to build leadership skills.
Sophomores attending from RLCC included Allison Aakhus, Calyssa Eskeli, Lily Guillemette, Jayden Iverson, Adrianne Jones, Sophia Linder, Chris Longtin, Sidney Olson, Derek Peterson, and Tanisha Srnsky.
Derek Peterson said, “My favorite part of the Conference was when our speaker Craig Hillier told us stories of his past experiences.” Chris Longtin stated, “My favorite part of the conference was when we did a few challenges which tested our leadership skills.” Lily Guillemette commented, “I enjoyed getting into our individual team groups and going over each other’s strengths and what people who think like you remind you that you are not alone. Being with people that have the same weak points as you gives a positive atmosphere to work and change for your own good.”
The one thing that Craig Hillier spoke of that impacted the students were the motivational speeches that had inspired them to work hard and live life to the best they can make it.
