Sargent gets a huge win for the Prowlers

The Thief River Falls Prowler Wrestling Team includes two wrestlers from the Goodridge School - Jolson Sargent (HWT), a sophomore, and Kehan Nelson (120 lbs), an 8th grader.
The Prowler Wrestling Team traveled to Bemidji last Friday morning to participate in the annual Rick Lee Wrestling Tournament. The team had wrestlers participating in the Middle School and JV individual tournaments. The varsity squad prepared to take on teams from Frazee, Ottertail County, and Tracy-Milroy-Balaton-Westbrook-Walnut-Grove in pool action to determine tournament placement on Saturday.
All three opponents had strong teams, it was not going to be an easy path to the championship pool.
The Prowlers first took on Frazee and fell short with a 32-36 loss. Ottertail County was defeated during the second round of pool action. The third and final round for the day the Prowlers took on TMBW, who were undefeated for the day. After 4 bouts, TMBW led the Prowlers 17-3. The Prowlers answered with three consecutive pins to take the lead 21-17.
After the 12th bout, TMBW retook the lead with a score of 30-24. Mason Iverson came out and won by a fall giving the team six more points to tie it up at 30-30.
The final decision came down to the Heavy Weight bout. The Prowlers sent out Jolson Sargent in hopes for a win.
Jolson fought through two, 2 minute periods and was coming up short with a score of 1-8 going into the final 2 minute period. 27 seconds into the 3rd period, Jolson got in his tie up and with a throw pinned his opponent, which sent the Prowler wrestling team and fans to their feet as Jolson sealed the victory over TMBW, 36-32.
The Prowlers went on to the championship pool on Saturday, January 11. They faced three new opponents - Bemidji, LPGE-Browerville Wolves, and Big Lake. Bemidji defeated the Prowlers 48-27, LPGE-Browerville defeated the Prowlers 49-15, and in a back and forth match up against Big Lake, the Prowlers came out victorious by criteria after a 39-39 tie in regular bouts.
The Prowler Wrestling Team took 3rd place out of 16 teams at the Rick Lee Varsity Duals held 1/10-1/11 in Bemidji.
