RLCC seniors awarded $24,500 in scholarships

During Awards Day on Wednesday, May 11th at the Red Lake County Central High School, seniors were recognized along with their future plans. There were 56 scholarships given out totaling $24,500. The following scholarships were made possible by the generosity of many local organizations, businesses, and individuals.
Eight $200 Red Lake County Central Community Service Scholarships were given to Holly Vettleson, Sami Smith, Kayla Olson, Miranda Magnell, Devin Lambert, Seth Johnson, Shelby Haugen, and Morgan Bushelle. These scholarships were funded through donations from D&R Grocery, Oklee Quilting, Oklee Lumber, Northwest Grain, Plummer Coop Creamery, Red Lake County Co-op, Northern Propane, and ISD #2906. The scholarships were presented by Mr. Randall Pederson.
The Plummer Senior Citizens Scholarship of $100 was given to Shelby Haugen. The National Farmers Organization scholarship of $200 was given to Alan Nemec. Two $250 Plummer Fire Department Scholarships were awarded to Marcus Christensen and Katheryn DeHate. Two $1000 Tim and Donna Swenson scholarships were given to Devin Lambert and Sami Smith. North Dakota Grocer’s Association Richard Bronson Scholarship of $1000 was awarded to Brandi Jensen. Eight $1000 Orlo and Millie Scholarships were awarded to Austin Waliser, Holly Vettleson, Kayla Olson, Devin Lambert, Shelby Haugen, Asia Davis, Morgan Bushelle, as well as Mickala Morinville who graduated last year and was previous recipient. Mr. Randall Pederson also presented these awards.
Two $250 Plummer Snowmobile Club Scholarships were given to Seth Johnson and Alan Nemec. Mr. Steve Rosten presented the awards. Five $400 Vincent and Shirley Dessellier Scholarships were given to Asia Davis, Katheryn DeHate, Seth Johnson, Kayla Olson, and Sami Smith. These awards were presented by Mr. and Mrs. Vincent Dessellier.
Essentia Health Scholarship in the amount of $1500 was given to Asia Davis. Lorna Wicks Scholarship of $500 was given to Devin Lambert. Mrs. Lynae Finseth presented the awards. Red Lake Electric Cooperative Scholarship of $500 was given to Holly Vettleson. The award was presented by Shirley Bregier. Lindfors Insurance Scholarship in the amount of $500 was awarded to Sami Smith. The award was presented by Jodi Thompson, a representative of Lindfors Insurance.
Mrs. Barb Melby presented one $500 scholarship for the Marvin Bronken Education Scholarship to Kayla Olson and one $500 scholarship to Holly Vettleson for the Joan Bronken Education Scholarship. Mr. Ira Hill of the Highway 2 Cruisers presented one $500 scholarship to Seth Johnson.
Ms. Shelley Steva presented two $250 scholarships from RLCC Education Association to Devin Lambert and Sami Smith. Mrs. Michele Longtin of the Plummer Lions Too presented two $100 scholarships to Marcus Christensen and Alan Nemec. Mr. Steve Rosten presented eight $250 Plummer Lions Scholarships to Austin Waliser, Holly Vettleson, Sami Smith, Kayla Olson, Alan Nemec, Morgan Bushelle, Devin Lambert, and Shelby Haugen. The two Grace McManus Scholarship of $500 each were presented by Mr. John Lerohl to Seth Johnson and Katie Pendelton.
Two Oklee-Brooks-Plummer Ambulance Scholarships of $500 were presented by Ms. Gin Berns to Seth Johnson and Devin Lambert. Mr. David Eskeli awarded one $200 scholarship to Alan Nemec from the Plummer American Legion Post #623. He also presented the Citizenship Award to Austin Waliser. The Plummer American Legion Auxiliary awarded a $200 scholarship to Shelby Haugen which was presented by Mrs. DeeAnn Eskeli.
