RLCC presents Academic Honors

The Red Lake Country Central held their 2016 Academic Banquet on Monday, April 11. Honored were the students in 9th-12th grade that maintained 3.5 GPA in their core classes in the first three quarters of this school year. Principal Randy Pederson mentioned this was the 21st year of holding the banquet.
Mr. Pederson welcomed the honored students and family members. The invocation was given by Mrs. Chris Vettleson. The special guest speaker was Kim Vettleson, Oklee High School Class of 1987 graduate.
Twenty-two students maintained 3.5 GPA. Academic Medals were presented to the honored students. The senior honorees at the Academic Banquet were Asia Davis, Holly Vettleson, Devin Lambert, and Austin Waliser. The honored juniors were Natalie Aakhus, Mary Auman, Taylor Bushelle, Ashley Longtin, Nicole Schmitz, Ana Almeida, Megan Berberich, Kyle Gagner, and Kelsie Sirjord.
The sophomore honorees included Jayden Fore, Kara Longtin, Katie Olson, Hannah Kolstoe, Sydney Melby, and Matthew Vettleson. The freshman who were honored were Julia Bernstein, Marie Johnson, and Sydnie Gunderson.
Special awards in Mathematics, Science, Social Studies and English were presented to seniors. Mr. Bryan Paskvan gave the Outstanding Senior in Mathematics to Devin Lambert. Asia Davis received the Outstanding Senior in Science by Mr. Steven Strutz. Mr. Randy Huie presented Holly Vettleson with Outstanding Senior in Social Studies. Holly Vettleson was given Outstanding Senior in English by Mr. Michael Swenson.
The waiter and waitresses also had to maintain a 3.5 GPA. Eighth graders were Madison Carlson, Calyssa Eskeli, Sophia Linder, Adrianna Jones, Christopher Longtin, Derek Peterson, Garrett Qualley, Rickey Ulrich, and Abigail Walton. The seventh grade waiters and waitress included Kia Bachand, Bailey Culkins, George Duden, Tristyn Ferguson, Emily Kolstoe, Karena Melby, Janae Olson, Elijah Rathsack and Katelyn Suchy.
