"A Hillbilly Wedding" takes place in the deep, deep  Adirondack Mountains where modern conveniences like a two holer outhouse is a luxury.  The play takes place thirty miles from Horsehair Junction, the county seat.
Pa (Tom Nelson) had never traveled that far and none of the kids have either. Pa is Pa Kettle to the tee. Work and he don’t ever meet very often.
Ma (Kjersten Walton) is concerned for the elder daughter, Ceelie Belsnickle (Sydney Melby ) who loves her three pet rattlers and has never had a bath in her life. As Ma says, “Her critters cause the itching.”
Juney (Kara Longtin) has finally nailed her fellow by kissing him. In those parts a kiss was an engagement and a double barreled shotgun was the convincer. Bonnie Mae doesn’t want a husband either, she prefers hitting the books dreaming of helping her kinfolk by educating them a bit.
Along comes a city slicker, Ronald Maxbell) a future doctor and his aunt Lucy (Dede Walton) who loves money and can’t visualize skunk surprise for supper. They are trapped in the hills when Obeey Upslager (Nick Pahlen) and his brother Chiz (Hannah Kolstoe) wonder about the new guy since there are not many gals of marriageable age in the hills where they live.
Of course, the answer to this threat is enlisting in the Marines…Wrong story….a feud. Zeke (Austin Waliser) as Four Belsnickle and (Natalie Aakhus) as Six Belsnickle (Heather Longtin) figure they will shoota few varmints for kissing which girl?????.
At 7:30 p.m. in the Oklee High School gym, join us for this screwball hillbilly comedy and some music from the hills.
Admission is only $5:00 for the zany comedy on April 15th, 16th, and 17th.
