RLCC Awards Day

The Red Lake County Central High School had its Awards Day on May 8, 2019 at Oklee. The students were presented awards for their achievements over the past year in high school. The awards are as follows:

The Attendance Awards and Academic Letter Awards were presented by Mr. Randall Peterson: Perfect Attendance Awards went to Peyton Fish and Andrew Fish; Absent One Day or Less awards were given to Shawna Majeres and Juan Clifton. 

Academic Letter Awards went to students with 3.75 cumulative GPA or above including the following. Seniors 4th year: Marie Johnson, and 3rd Year: Andrew Fish. Juniors 3rd Year: Calyssa Eskeli, Christopher Longtin, and Derek Peterson; and 2nd Year: Lillyan Guillemette, and Jayden Iverson. Sophomores 2nd Year: Kia Bachand, Daniel Guillemette, Emily Kolstoe, Karena Melby, and Janae Olson; and 1st Year: Katelyn Suchy. Freshmen 1st Year: Cari Bachand, Zachary Cater, Taya Morinville, Kjerstin Nelson, Leah Peterson, Bailey Sherman, and Halie Thompson.

Ms. Jessie Hamrum presented letter certificates and pins to Speech participants from RLCC:  Lacey Pendelton, Phillip Sorenson, Jayden Iverson, Danny Guillemette, and Lilly Hanson. Those from Red Lake Falls earning letters and pins are Sage Hartman, Autumn Houghtaling, and Mariah Peterson. Jayden Iverson was given State Speech Participation Certificate.

Music Awards were presented by Mrs. Patty Mickelson. Six Year Choir member was Phillip Sorenson, and Six Year Band members were Adrien Verbout, Lacey Pendleton, Marie Johnson, and Tom Nelson. Those lettering in choir included Bella Russillo, Bailey Culkins, Katelyn Suchy, Janae Olson, Adriel Bakken, Kia Bachand, Emily Kolstoe, Kjerstin Nelson, and Thomas Benson. Five choir members received bars: Phillip Sorenson, Adrianne Jones, Abby Walton, Sidney Olson, and Jayden Iverson.

Lettering in band were Marie Johnson, Janae Olson, Emily Kolstoe, Jayden Iverson, Tristyn Ferguson, Brock Tvedt, Katelyn Suchy, and Thomas Benson. Jayden Iverson, Karena Melby, and Katelyn Suchy received bars for band.

Students in band and choir voted to select MVP, someone who provided leadership and improves the sound of the whole group. Senior High Band MVP was Tom Nelson. Adrianne Jones and Abby Walton both were selected as Senior High Choir MVP. Jamie Flatgard was voted as Junior High Band MVP, and Clancy Hanson as Junior High Choir MVP.

The Outstanding Senior Social Studies Award and Student Senate Awards were presented by Mr. Randy Huie. The Outstanding Senior Social Studies Award went to Marie Johnson. He also recognized the Student Senate officers and senators: President Calyssa Eskeli, Vice President Lily Guillemette, Secretary Jenna Pahlen, and Treasurer Karena Melby; Senators: Dawson Rystad, Adrien Verbout, Daphney Koralweski, Allison Aakhus, AJ Jones, Sophia Linder, Isaiah Aquino, Kia Bachand, Janae Olson, Cari Bachand, Taya Morinville, Bailey Sherman, Shawna Majeres, Molly Smith, Natalie Vettleson, Sydney Fougner, Ella Moen, and Maverick Nelson.

Austin Jensen received the Outstanding Technology Award from Mr. Michael Illies. Mr. Randall Pederson presented the Outstanding Senior English Award to Sydnie Gunderson. 

Mr. Bryan Paskvan presented the Outstanding Senior Math Award to Andrew Fish. The Knowledge Bowl Awards were presented to Seniors: Sydnie Gunderson, Andrew Fish, Connor Lambert, Dawson Rystad, Phil Sorenson, Marie Johnson, and Julia Bernstein; Juniors: Derek Peterson, Calyssa Eskeli, Sophia Linder, Jayden Iverson, Chris Longtin, Lily Guillemette, and Zach Benson; and Sophomores: Kia Bachand, Emily Kolstoe, Karena Melby, Elijah Rathsack, Brody Moen, Tristyn Ferguson, Danny Guillemette, and Janae Olson.

The Drama Awards were presented by Mr. Tyrell Hamrum. One Act Play participation medals went to cast members Tom Nelson, Jayden Iverson, Abigail Walton, Emily Kolstoe, Karena Melby, Danny Guillemette, Lilly Hanson, Remi Rathsack, Jonathan Roue, and Luci Svendsen. Three Act Participation Medals were also given to Tom Nelson, Jayden Iverson, Danny Guillemette, Lilly Hanson, Remi Rathsack, Jonathan Roue, and Luci Svendsen. 

Receiving the Gold Award for excellence in Public Presentation of River Watch science data and activities were Tanisha Srnsky, Kaitlyn Morris, and Sidney Olson which were presented by Mrs. Kathryn Tran.

Mr. Steve Strutz presented the Outstanding Senior Science Award to Connor Lambert. The Six Year Math and Science Awards were given to Jarisa Bailey, Connor Lambert, Christian Baker, Julia Bernstein, Dawson Rystad, and Sydnie Gunderson. The Envirothon Team Award went to Calyssa Eskeli, Derek Peterson, Christopher Longtin, Jenna Pahlen, and Sophia Linder. Jayden Iverson, Lily Guillemette, Sydney Olson, Tanisha Srnsky, and Bailey Sherman were recognized for the First Place Regional Envirothon Oral Presentation. Natalia Whalen received the Anatomy Award. The Senior Countdown Award was presented to Tasha Manning. 

Adrien Verbout received the Senior Tri-Athlete Award for football, basketball, and baseball. This was presented by Mr. Aaron Nelson.
