RLC Rebels Advance 

Red Lake County Rebels were able to advance into the Section 8A Semifinals after a 44-0 win over the Red Lake Warriors on Tuesday, October 23. 

The Warriors began with a 32 yard drive. After a fourth down punt, the Rebels began their offensive work. In three plays, the final play being a 41 yard run by Zac Kennett, RLC took the 8-0 lead.

After another forced punt on the Warriors’ end, the Rebel offense laid down another three plays to reach their goal line. In a five yard touchdown pass from Derek Peterson to Zach Benson, the Rebels lengthened their lead to 16-0.

The Rebel defense kept up their wall, forcing yet another punt. Five plays gave Peterson the opportunity to find Benson for 12 yard pass and gave way to a 24-0 lead.

The next Rebel drive began with a 54 yard run by senior Adrien Verbout. The last 16 yards were covered by Peterson in the next play, which pushed the lead to 32-0.

RLC began to sub players in and out during the second period. Fred Landman IV, later giving the Rebels a 30 yard run and six more points, ran the ball hard for the home team. His run made for a 38-0 lead.

The rest of the game resulted in two added field goals made by senior Austin Jensen and a 44-0 win against the Warriors.

All in all, the Rebel finished strong with a total of 421 offensive yards, 369 yards being on the ground. The win advanced the Rebels to the Section Semifinals against Polk County West and resulted in an improved 8-1 season.
