Bemidji Speedway

“Sanford Center and McKinnon Co. Races”

                Helping the United Way with “Back to School” supplies the Sanford Center and McKinnon Company sponsored Sunday nights races at Bemidji Speedway with racers and fans donating various school supplies and over $500.00 towards the cause.

                Seven classes of cars raced with an exhibition race of the new class coming to Bemidji Speedway in 2027 the “Crown Vics”.

                Next Sunday the “Track Champions” will be crowned in all classes for the 2026 season ending the regular season of racing at Bemidji Speedway.   The month of September the track will sit silent until October 3^rd and 4^th when the 48^th Annual Paul Bunyan Stampede will converge on the track for the final races of the year.   All classes will be racing with a 4:PM start on Saturday and 2:PM start on Sunday.

Wissota Midwest Modified Feature:

                The first feature race of the evening brought the Wissota Midwest Modifieds on track led by Dean Eggebratten and Cejay LaValley leading the charge.    Eggebratten led into the first turns with LaValley and Josh Beaulieu chasing him.   LaValley and Beaulieu put on a spirited duel racing side by side for a couple laps before Beaulieu gained the advantage.   Eggebratten created a caution when his car slid in turn four creating a restart sending him tailback.   LaValley then held the front row spot with Beaulieu and Carter Matthews chasing her.  LaValley and Beaulieu raced door to door for several laps before Beaulieu gained the advantage taking the lead.   A series of spins and restarts had both LaValley ending her quest for her first ever feature win and a clean sweep, and Matthews sent tailback moving Beaulieu into the lead.  Late in the race a strong recovery by Eggebratten’s tailback position had him  passing Hunter Weeks for 2^nd as Beaulieu took the checkered flag.

Wissota Pure Stocks Feature:
                A tremendous field of Wissota Pure Stocks loaded with top ten drivers in the National points was next.  Landon Weeks and Aaron Bitker led the pack down the front straight with Weeks taking the lead followed by Jake Smith and Bitker.   Smith quickly moved up to challenge Weeks racing door to door.   Charging up from his fourth row starting position Cameron Labelle passed Bitker for third.  Following a restart due to a caution on track LaBelle raced to the lead with Weeks and Smith in the top three but a crash in turns 1-2 sent both Labelle and Weeks to the pits moving Smith to the lead and Austin Carlson and Alex Berg into the top three.  Smith picked up his second feature of the summer at Bemidji.

Wissota Streets Feature:

                Charlie Paradis and Chris Dudley led the Wissota Streets to the green flag with the two battling side by side for lap one and two.  Finally Dudley gained the advantage with Paradis on his bumper.  Deryk Weleski held the third spot behind the leaders.  The yellow caution flag waved slowing the action and sending Alaina Chaplin or Cameron, Wisconsin tailback.   Racing resumed with Dudley in control.   Weleski caught and passed Paradis for second as Dudley took the checkered flag for the win his third of the summer and tightening the points battle with Weleski who is currently in first place going into next weeks points championships.

Bemidji Mini Stocks Feature:

                In the fastest growing class the Bemidji Mini Stocks rolled on track led by Conrad Schwinn and Evan Hepsak up front.  Schwinn raced to the lead with Nick McCann and Hepsak chasing him.  Schwinn raced out to a four car length lead over McCann who is a slight two points behind Schwinn in the points battle for Track Champion.  Making moves on the high side Hayden Engen raced up into second ahead of McCann.  Schwinn slid up high in turn four and McCann and Engen both raced past him with Schwinn sliding on the front straight due to a flat tire sending him to the pits.   McCann won the race, his fifth, with Engen and Cameron Schwinn trailing.

Wissota Hornet Feature:

                The Wissota Hornet feature was next with Logan Delaney and Adam Kessler in row one.   The two young drivers battled side by side for the lead with former national champion Travis Olafson third.  The top three of Delaney, Kessler and Olafson were bumpers to bumpers.   Delaney making huge advances each week was impressive in holding off the more experienced drivers to pick up his first ever feature win.  In Victory Lane he was saluted by his fellow competitors for a job well done and also by a very appreciate crowd.  

Wissota Super Stocks Feature:

                Dalton Carlson and Brandon Bahr raced door to door down the front straight as the green flag waved with Carlson gaining the advantage followed by Bahr and Cameron LaBelle.   By lap three Carlson had a four car length lead over the field with Labelle racing inside on the back straight to get by Bahr for second.  Labelle was able to real in Carlson close enough to reach his bumper but each time Carlson would pull away into the straight-aways.   Carlson picked up his 6^th win of the year to maintain his points lead going into the Track Championships next week.  Labelle and Bahr were second and third.

Wissota Mod Four Feature:

                The final race of the night was the Wissota Mod Fours with Lily Knute and Conrad Schwinn leading the way.   Charging down the front straight it was a three wide battle with Knute, Ashton Schwinn and Conrad Schwinn dueling for the lead.  Conrad won that battle with Ashton Schwinn second and Brooke Erickson charging up into third.   Conrad Schwinn held the lead for most of the race but Ashton Schwinn looking for National Points was able to pass his father and take the lead late to complete a clean sweep of the Mod Fours and his 8^th win of the summer.  He was followed across the finish line by Conrad Schwinn and Brooke Erickson.

Crown Vics (Exhibition Race)

                Hunter Morris won both the heat and feature race with Dustin Hammer, Logan Hammer and Marty Serbus trailing.
