Polk County4-H holds awards banquet

The annual Polk County 4-H awards banquet was held Sunday February 4th in the Bede Ballroom on the University of Minnesota Crookston campus.
The Federation Officers for 2017-2018 were announced followed by supper. After our meal attendees of BLU (Building Leadership and Understanding) told us about their weekend in Detroit Lakes with over 100 other youth from NW MN. They then led us in a game. Whitney Weidenborner a UMC student shared a powerful speech about being more involved in 4-H and getting all that you can out of the program.
The Friend of 4-H award was given to the Fosston Civic Center.
Volunteer of the Year award was given to Dorene Erickson who is an adult leader of the Climax-Fisher Flyers 4-H club.
Through its pledge of Head, Heart, Hands, and Health, 4-H members give back to their communities by being involved. Being active, engaged citizens at a club level, helps to improve and enhance the County 4-H program as a whole.
