Polk County Soybean/Corn Growers Elect New Director and New President

Red Lake Falls, MN –   The Polk County Soybean/Corn growers recognized long time director Elliott Solheim of Crookston at a recent meeting in Red Lake Falls. Elliott has been a part of the Polk County Soybean and Corn Growers since it started in 2002, when Polk County became the first organized county in the northern tier of Minnesota. 

Elected to take Solheim’s director position was Mike Enright from Crookston.  Enright said he is happy to be a part of the county association and is looking forward to working to promote soybeans and corn in the county.

Wayne Olson from Fosston was elected to serve as the county President, Kevin Kruger, East Grand Forks, was elected as the new Vice President, Rick Roed, Fosston, will serve as the Secretary/Treasurer and Mike Skaug, Beltrami, will continue to serve as the state Minnesota Soybean Growers Association board of director. Enright will serve as Membership Chair for the county. Russ Severson from Crookston serves as an Associate Director and Bill Craig from Warren is the county’s Plot Coordinator.

Olson welcomed Enright and gave a huge thanks to Solheim for all his time and dedication to the county and state associations.

The Polk County Soybean/Corn Growers is affiliated with the Minnesota Soybean Research & Promotion Council, which oversees the investment of soybean checkoff dollars on behalf of approximately 25,000 farmers in Minnesota. The Council is governed by the rules of a federally mandated checkoff program that requires all soybean producers pay a fee on the soybeans they sell. This money is used to promote, educate and develop market opportunities for soybeans.
