Polk County Fair starts July 11th

Again this year, everyone is ready for the fun to begin at the Polk County Fair held from July 11th to July 15th at the Farigrounds in Fertile. The 118th Annual Fair will bring 5 days of action, excitement and fun for all.
The Fair opens it's gates on Wednesday, July 11th at 8:00 am with "Sneak a Peek Day. The midway will open around 5:00 pm and the rodeo begins at 7:00 pm. Karaoke, which is free for all ages will start around 9:00 pm and last until midnight. The famous Polk County Chocolate Contest will also be held on Wednesday on the Free Stage with entries being due by 6:30 pm and juding starting at 7:00 pm. There will be catagories for both adult and kids for recipes made from "scratch".
Thursday, July 12th is the day the 4-H Open Class judging will begin., also Thursday will start the kids bike drawing which will take place each day of the fair at 4:00 pm. The midway will open at 4:00 pm and there will be another night of rodeo action starting at 7:00 pm. 
The talent contest will take place on the Free Stage beginning at 7:00 pm as well, there will be a pre-teen, teen and adult division for the talent show. Admission to the show is free.
Senior Citizens Day will be on Friday, July 13th, with the gates opening at 9:30 am in the Christian Fellowship tent. Everyone is welcome 55 years old and over.  
The midway will open on Friday afternoon at 1:00 pm as well as the Hanson Memorial Free Stage. Opening on Friday as well is the Reptile and Amphibian Discovery Zoo. Bingo will take place at 2:00 pm with cards at 2 for $3 that will be good for all 11 games with a total of $1,000 in cash prizes.  and a kids pedal pull starts at 4:15 pm. Firday will bring Baja Racing with a night full of action for the 8 cylinders and pickups.
On Saturday, July 14th, the day will start with a 5K walk/run that will take place at 9:00 am. Reigstration for the walk/run starts at 8:00 am near the Free Stage. Pre- registration is required by July 6th to guarentee a T-shirt, same day registration will be accepted. There will be a prize for the first male and first female finishers. Proceed for this event will go to the Polk County Fair Building Improvement Fund. 
There At noon, the midway and free stage will open for the day and Dock Dogs Registration will start with the Dock Dogs event starting at 1:00 pm. 
Dock Dogs is a competition event  if your dog loves to run, jump and swim then DockDogs is definitely the right place for you. They welcome any breed, any mix, any size to come out and join our Dock Diving® family! DockDogs is the fastest growing sport on 4 legs. At 1:30 pm there will be a kiddie livestock show in the livestock barn for youth kindergarten and under to show a baby animal on a leash. Exhibitors only need to bring their animal to the fair the day of the show They may wash and prepare the animal at the fairgrounds. Baja Racing continues at the Fair, starting at 1:00 pm with 4 and 6 cylinder heats bringing the action. There will be the Century Farms presentation at 3:45 pm on the Hanson Memorial Free Stage. At 6:30 pm the main event will be the State Championship Baja Racing.
A Church Service at 10:00 pm will start off Sunday, July 15th. The midway and free stage will open at noon, along with Dock Dogs registration and the Dock Dogs event, starting again on Sunday at 1:00 pm. 
The fun doesn't stop as the Parage will begin at 2:00 pm. The Super Demo Derby on Sunday starts at 6:30 pm and the night with Moifieds, stock, pickups and Compacts all competing for cash prizes up to $1,200. There will be trophies for the 1st, 2nd and 3rd place winners. New this year at the Demo Derby is Little Kids Power Wheels Demo with tow age classes and trophies awarded. 
The week of the fair, will conclude with a fireworks show at 10:30 pm.
