Polansky recognized for 20 years of service

Gary Polansky was recently recognized for his 20 years of service and dedication to the Grygla/Gatzke School board. Superintendent Galen Clow and Polansky attended the MSBA Convention Luncheon Recognition on January 12th, 2017, where Gary received his 20 years of service award. Both Principal Jamie Lunsetter and Superintendent Clow would like to acknowledge the time, involvement and dedication that Gary has given to the school and students of Grygla.

20 years is a long time to serve, but Polansky says he would do it all over again! “It was something fun for me to do and I’ll miss it. If I still had kids or grandkids in the school, I’d definitely keep on with it,” he says, adding, “Having a great superintendent and principal made it an easy thing for me to do.”

Over the last 20 years, many changes have happened within the school district. Polansky says seeing all the technology advances have been great, but with the positives also come some negatives. “Declining enrollment is a challenge the Grygla School faces. We need kids – we need young people and families; that’s the toughest thing we face,” he stated.

In spite of the declining enrollment, Polansky said he’s proud of the small class sizes that the Grygla/Gatzke School District has. “It’s almost like a family. Everyone just cares about the kids – the teachers, the cooks, the janitors, the bus drivers – our kids are so lucky,” he said.

Polansky was replaced by new board member, Andrew Oslund, who has three kids enrolled at the Grygla School.
