Pastor Margaret Jacobus retiring from Oklee Lutheran Parish

Pastor Margaret will be moving to Onalaska, Wisconsin, which is 30 miles from her daughter’s house. Pastor Margaret doesn’t know what she will do for sure after she retires, but she does know some things. Even though Margaret has one dog she might get one or two more dogs. Margaret plans to get the dust off her sewing machine and she plans to start knitting again.

When asked what she enjoyed most about being here she said, “the people”.  Margaret commented that the congregation was great and that the people in the congregation are very kind and she appreciated that. Pastor Margaret is going to miss a lot of things she said after she leaves, but most of all she is going to miss the people. She said she is going to miss “the care given to her because care goes two directions”. 

During the celebration of Pastor Margaret’s celebration on Sunday, June 11th at Zion, she had asked if anyone wanted to share some memories of her or share anything else about her. Many people commented that they were thankful for her dedication to the church. Another person also remembered how when she came here she loved the small town. A young boy commented “I remember her giving lots of speeches”. After the memories of Pastor Margaret were shared, everyone clapped for Margaret as a thank you for being here.
