Oklee Market Day, August 11th

Oklee Market Day is just around the corner. August 11th will be a great day to be in Oklee! There will be a lot going on that day, starting at 7:45 AM with the hero hustle 5K registration. The actual 5K will start at 8:30 at the Oklee Veterans Memorial site. Come be a hero for the day and dress up in your favorite superhero costume and have a great time!
At 8:00 AM the key Hunt will start, find a hidden key around town to try to win a prize. There is no age limit anyone can participate. 
Vendors and crafters opening up at 9 AM in the school, there will be a lot of goodies and homemade items for sale. There is always room for more vendors of all types, crafters, produce and flea marketers of any kind please call Jena at 218–791–9233 with any questions or if you’d like to set up a stand.  The quilt show also open at 9 AM in the hall. Come and check out all the gorgeous handmade quilts. This year includes a special presentation by Quilting Treasures of Rhode Island at 10 AM and 1 PM that day the hall, come learn about the history of quilting fabric.
Cars will start lining up on main street for the car show at 10 AM. The motto for the car show is “if you’re proud of it, show it off!” A car show is always a great place for people to visit and hang out! For questions on the car show please call Linda at 218–689–5038.
The sidewalk chalk contest will be going on again this year for all ages, along Main Street. Bring some chalk and color the town. Have your picture completed by 1:00 for judging and your chance to win a prize.
Something new this year will be the pedal pull for kids and adults. This Takes place from 10:00 until noon. Challenge your friends and neighbors for bragging rights!
Hopefully at 11:00 AM the old-time plowing demonstration will take place, weather and the seasonal conditions will determine this event. If you want to participate bring your pre-1960 tractor and a 2 or 3 bottom plow and come join the fun or just come watch and learn. At 12:00 the blind driver contest for adults will take place along with pedal tractor races for kids.
Hopefully, around this time you’re also getting hungry! Oklee Cafe, Cenex, and TJs Tavern will be open, along with the Zion Lutheran church serving burgers in the fire hall and the American Legion will serving brats and hotdogs by the school.  Driftwood food cart will be in town this year and there will also be a coffee wagon. 
The old fashion Street games will start at 1:30 on Main Street and we’re asking for all adults and children to come have some fun and laughs. Games are still being planned so be sure to come check out what’s new this year, you know it’s going to be fun!
At 2:30 the sandpile dig will take place for kids and around 2:45 PM they will start announcing winners of the various things that have taken place throughout the day.
Starting 3:00 the ATV pull will start in the alley between D and R grocery and the Oklee elevator. This should be a fun event. Any questions please call Jared at 218–686–8979.
One last addition to this year’s Market Day will be an Oklee Lumber alumni softball game starting around 4 p.m. at the softball fields. Come watch new and former players battle it out in what is sure to be an entertaining game. 
Don’t miss out on the barrel train ride that’ll be going around town that day, The quilt raffle, 50-50 drawing, and drawings at your local businesses.
Come on out to TJ’s Tavern starting at 9 PM, Odd Man Out will be playing for the night time entertainment.
