After being with the band Eagle Creek for the last 18 years, lead singer Gavin Nordby has hung up his hat. “One just knows when it’s time,” he reflected. His last gig with the band was on New Year’s Eve where they took the stage at the Rusty Nail in Thief River Falls.
With their main genre being country and classic rock, Grygla’s tight knit band has always brought a lot of energy and fun to the stage. They’ve enjoyed getting together, playing music, seeing people dance and have fun over the years. Though the gigs have slowed down a bit over the years, there was a time when the band was playing almost every weekend. In fact, one year Eagle Creek logged 42 weekends on stage. “We had multiple conversations that we didn’t want to do that again,” he admitted. “You want to keep it fun vs. feeling like a job.”
And fun they’ve all had. But as Gavin said, one just knows when it’s time. “The older my kids get, the busier life gets, and even though we aren’t playing as much these days, it still takes away that family time,” he says.
As for Eagle Creek’s next chapter, each of the guys will be taking on more songs and still performing around the area. Gavin concluded, “It’s been an honor and a true privilege sharing the stage with these guys the past 18 years. From the beginning to the end, it was an amazing experience.”
