Nell Program October 15 in Bagley

Heart of the Farm – Barns of Minnesota 

Northern Exposure to Lifelong Learning (NELL) is excited to welcome back historian, photographer and speaker Doug Ohman on Wednesday October 15th at the Bagley American Legion.  The program starts at 9:30am sharp until 11:00am with questions.  Doors open at 9:00am.  

Guests will enjoy a rural journey around Minnesota exploring the greatest of all rural icons, “the barn”. From the early days of statehood through the era of agribusiness our “barns tell a story”.  This story is told through photographs and history that will bring you back to the farm and explain the importance of our rural roots. 

Mr. Ohman is a historian and public speaker.  His focus has been Minnesota history.  He gives public presentations to over 300 groups per/year and the featured host of eight PBS television program.  His program : Landmarks-Keeping history alive, was nominated for a PBS Emmy in 2019.  

Doug spent more than 30 years photographing historic architecture and landscapes in Minnesota.  His work has been featured in books, magazines and calendars.  For the last 20 years he has been selling his photography art at local art & craft shows.  

NELL is a nonprofit organization that is dedicated to creating programming that is unique, engaging and diverse.  There is no charge to attend regular Wednesday programs. 

NELL is funded solely from annual memberships, individual and corporate donations, memorials, freewill refreshment donation and the occasional one time donation from various organizations and businesses. 

This program is funded in part by a generous donation from National Bank of Commerce-Bagley.

If you would like to be an annual donating member.  Levels start at $20 individual or $30 couple. Levels go up from there.  Choose your comfort level.  If annual membership is not right for you, a donation of any amount is greatly appreciated.  Mail your check to NELL, PO Box 585, Bagley, MN 56621.  

With your annual membership you will get a sneak peek pamphlet that includes the program lineup, an email (Starting Spring 2026 optional) to pre-notify you of trips or special programs before the general public, and recognized in print as a donating member of NELL (remaining anonymous ok).
