Thrift Shop Update. The McIntosh Heritage and Arts Center opened two thrift shops in McIntosh this spring and raised over $4000 after operating expenses for the roof fund for the old McIntosh School, the future home of MHAC. The support from the community was great, and MHAC took in over 50 donations this year. The Thrift Store at The Shop on Cleveland Avenue was open Thursday through Saturday from June 15, 2015 to October 3, 2015. The store will not be open during the winter due to heating concerns. The second store, The Second Floor at the Country Store, where MHAC sells clothing and shoes will remain open throughout the winter from 9:00 am to Noon each Saturday.
The shops were staffed with only two employees Debbie Harriman and Judi Lindseth and the remainder of the time was given by over 10 volunteers.
If you would like to make donations to MHAC for the Thrift Shop, there is a list of numbers on the door of the store that can be called to make an appointment for dropping off items. You can also contact McIntosh Heritage and Arts Center on Facebook.
Next year, the plans are to open the Thrift Shop earlier in the year, and to add days and hours.
