March 12 Gonvick City Council
The Gonvick City Council met in regular session on March 12. They approved the minutes of the February meeting.
A Commercial Loan requested from Donna Rude was approved to upgrade some necessary changes to the two apartments in the City of Gonvick. The loan comes from the Commercial Revolving Loan that several business places have taken advantage of in the past.
Ryan Solee gave his report with 9 records that included: Crimes Against Family 1; Disturbance 1; Information Only 1; Juvenile Misc. 1; Medical 2; Theft 1; Traffic Complaint 1 and Traffic Stop 1. He has been looking at grants through the Department of Public Safely with victims’ services. He has also looked at his budget for the year and he might be able to hire part-time help during the summer months.
Cody Rude, Gonvick Fire Chief gave his report. There were 7 medical calls, 1 structure fire, 1 work night, 3 meetings, 2 training sessions with 40 hours for the month. The structure fire on March 7 was paged out at 9:20 am and the department responded with two engines, two tenders, one rescue, one command and one brush. They had 12 firemen on the scene and one at the fire hall. The Clearbrook Fire Department was called for mutual aid with their water tenders and one engine. The fire was extinguished and they cleared the scene at 12:54. They were paged back to the fire for some relights that had occurred and dismantling of the building.
The department has 13 members that have completed the EMR training and are certified through the Minnesota office of emergency medical service. Those members are Michael Carroll, Candace Coulter, Nick Erickson, Dan Johnson, Keenan Jones, Austin Kindem, Billy Klema, Logan LeClair, Brandon Oien, Nick Erickson, Casey Schmit, Lani Thorssen and Cody Rude. The department received the new Lucas Medical Machine with a $24,000 grant from the county. The fire department will move forward with getting a medical director.
They are getting ready for the April 9th Regional meeting that they will be hosting.
The fire contract meeting with the townships was held. The cost for each township was Greenwood $2,564.00 up $56.00; Hangaard $5,508.00 up $93.00; Pine Lake $20,265.00 down $1,432.00; Winsor $12,325.00 up $314.00; City of Gully $821.00 up $46.00; City of Trail $698.00 up $70.00; Johnson $8,058.00 up $1,261.00; Eden $12,913.00 up $1,426.00; Gully Township $14,315.00 up $1,854.00
Dan Johnson, Gonvick Maintenance had a request to sell the motor grader. The council will put up for bids the 1972 Cat 120 grader that is not used for a minimum bid of $4,800. Specifics will be put online.
Misc issue included passing Resolution 26-01 authorizing sale of real property by public bid subject to development requirements and development agreement on the old Vandy’s lot on Main Street.
A map of the city with location of all 70 streetlights in the city was discussed.
Flowers for Main Street will be ordered for the summer with six baskets being ordered from two different places of business to supply them. Donations would be accepted for the beautification of the city.
Bills were paid with $4,951.26; General $17,307.34 and Fire $29,376.11 for a total of $51,634.71.
