Mac community comes together for the Stordahl family benefit

Living in a small community may, to some, have a few disadvantages, there are things that aren’t easily available to us. The one thing we proved this past Sunday as that we don’t run short on love and support for one another. 

There is nothing a family needs more to get through difficult times than a community that gathers to help our friends and family through the trials of life. 

Jim and Roxanne Stordahl have had trials, again they find themselves fighting a battle with cancer. This time the cancer battle is with Jim.

Sunday afternoon, the hard work of many became a successful benefit for Jim and Roxanne, as they were unable to attend, due to Jim’s hospitalization, they would have been extremely humbled by the outpour of support. 

Nearly 700 people were served a lunch of taco in a bag, which was prepared by Kim Bjerke of The Club Bar & Grill. There were 350 silent auction items collected by Katie Roed with the help of many. There were mums available for $20, made possible by The Red Poppy in Fosston, and the flowers are still available, while supplies last at The Country Store in McIntosh. The beautiful autumn decorations were provided by Kenya Paradis. Flyers and planning was taken care of my Allison Opdahl and Andrea Stordahl. There were many, many other volunteers, as everyone was so willing to lend a hand to make this the huge success that it was.

You can still purchase raffle tickets for the firepit drawing until October 29th, when there will be a drawing for that and the guns at The Club Bar & Grill in McIntosh.

Jim and Roxanne have given so much to our community and on Sunday, our small community of McIntosh showed that there are many, many advantages to living our small town lives.
